International demand for Austrian securities, stocks and bonds is currently at record levels. Securities, stocks and bonds with a value of around EUR 45bn were sold to foreign investors in the first half of 2007 - the same time frame in 2006 saw a value of 'just' EUR 31.4bn. Bond issues from Austrian banks are in particularly high demand, but interest in money market securities has also risen sharply. Bond issues from Austrian banks worth EUR 16 billion have been sold abroad. Money market securities, EUR 13.8 billion of which have been sold, have increased significantly (+45%).
