Trade surplus in the first half year 15. October 2007

The Austrian trade balance showed a significant plus of EUR 5.5 billion for the first half of 2007. The main reason for the success was the foreign trade surplus. 

 

The Austrian trade balance in the first six months of 2007 was up by EUR 5.5 billion (first half 2006: + EUR 3.9bn). The foreign trade surplus was a key factor in this development, standing at EUR 1.3 billion. A EUR 4.6 billion rise in imported goods was compensated by an even larger rise in exports (+ EUR 5.9bn). The surplus from cross-border trade in services also rose slightly with a volume of EUR 7.4 billion - the first six months of 2006 showed a volume of EUR 6.9 billion.
